COLUMBIA — Columbia Public Schools will begin enrolling kindergartners for the 2010-11 school year from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 17 in each elementary school.
To enroll, children must be 5 years of age before Aug. 1.
Parents are urged to bring these documents with them to the enrollment:
- Completed enrollment form
- Official record of birth (birth certificate or hospital record)
- Record of immunizations
- Declaration of legal residence and proof of residence
- Social Security number
They are also encouraged to bring their children with them to registration.
Before enrolling, the children need to obtain specific immunizations, as required by Missouri law:
- Polio
- DPT
- Measles
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- two varicella (chickenpox) vaccines or a signed note from a doctor that verifies the month and year the child had the chickenpox disease
The district will also conduct enrollment for children entering first grade who have not previously attended the district.
