PrintCOLUMBIA — Police are searching for three suspects in a robbery Sunday evening at Forest Village Apartments.
Columbia police were sent around 7:30 p.m. to investigate a reported robbery at either Fireside or Forest Village Apartments, Columbia Police Public Information Officer Jessie Haden said. The Police Department received updated information from a male witness on arrival, confirming the robbery had taken place at Forest Village Apartments, 3001 S. Providence Road, Haden said.
A 23-year-old woman told police she had just parked her vehicle and was walking to her apartment when a man holding a long gun approached her and demanded her purse. She gave him the purse and then a second man, carrying a handgun, joined the man who had taken her purse.
The two armed men were joined by a third man before they fled the scene together, Haden said.
A male witness identified the vehicle the suspects had been in before the robbery.
The police towed and impounded the vehicle to search it for evidence, Haden said. A Boone County K-9 unit assisted the search for the suspects but could not find the path they had taken from the scene.
Haden said the police would not release information on the impounded vehicle this early in the investigation. The police have "good leads on the suspects" and expect to solve the crime soon, Haden said.

Uh, Mr Davis, you forgot to mention that these were Black men who held up the victim. You get a "F" for your shoddy reporting, or did you leave out that "tiny" tidbit on purpose?
The Missourian's policy for describing at-large suspects in crimes is to have at least three other identifying characteristics, such as weight, height, age, hair color and length, scars and tattoos, before publishing the race of a suspect.
The information you are concerned about was not included in my report due to lack of sufficient descriptive detail about the suspects. In other words, many people who did not have anything to do with this incident would also fit the identifications provided by witnesses on the scene.
Columbia is becoming a scary place to live, I'm glad I don't live here. You can't trust anyone or be anywhere without taking the chance of being mugged.
