Statement from two MU students arrested after cotton ball incident

A statement was issued by attorneys for Sean Fitzgerald, 19, and Zachary Tucker, 21, two MU students who have been arrested for the cotton ball incident that occurred on Feb. 26 at the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center.

Fitzgerald and Tucker were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of tampering in the second degree, a Class D felony. The incident was classified as a hate crime, which carries harsher penalties.

The students have been suspended temporarily from MU, pending the result of the university conduct process.

Fitzgerald is represented by Milt Harper and Kevin O’Brien of Harper, Evans, Wade and Netemeyer.
