The Columbia College women's basketball team received its second-straight at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament when the field of 32 was announced Wednesday.
The Cougars, the No. 4 seed in their eight-team division, will face Bethel (Tenn.), the division's No. 5 seed, at 12:30 p.m. next Thursday in Jackson, Tenn.
"They're beatable," Columbia College senior guard Whitney Davis said.
The Cougars watched the NAIA selections before practice Wednesday afternoon. After learning about the placement, they went to work, going through defensive drills and shooting free-throws, one of the problems the team needs to fix after going 9-for-21 from the line against William Woods on Monday.
If the Cougars win their game against Bethel, they would most likely take on the division's No. 1 seed Vanguard (Calif.).
Live audio of next Thursday's game will be streamed on columbiacougars.com.
William Woods and McKendree (Ill.), the two teams that shared the regular season American Midwest Conference title with the Cougars, also received bids to the tournament. William Woods received a No. 3 seed in its bracket while McKendree was awarded a No. 4 seed in its bracket.
