Late proved better than never for the Columbia College softball team.
The Cougars (8-2) swept a double-header against Lindenwood on Wednesday in St. Charles, MO, using late-inning scoring spurts in both games.
In Game 1, Columbia College scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure a 3-1 win. Samantha Stringer had two of the RBIs in the inning.
Valerie Teter got the win, striking out 12.
In Game 2, Columbia College tallied two runs in an extra frame, winning 2-1 in eight innings. Stringer added another critical RBI with a sacrifice fly and, two batters later, Rachel Coleman had the game-winning RBI.
Kacey Rehagen got the win, despite allowing one unearned run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
