The Missourian is celebrating Sunshine Week, a time to shine the spotlight on the rights of citizens to an open government and freedom of information.
Throughout the week, and once a week thereafter, the Missourian will highlight a specific government record. You can learn a lot about your community, state and country. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.
The American Society of News Editors has endorsed the week and is encouraging U.S. media outlets to emphasize the importance of sunshine laws.
