PrintTravelers flying out of the Kansas City International Airport will have the option of going through body scanners that critics have called a virtual strip search starting next week, as reported by the Kansas City Star.
The body scanners started to be installed around the world after a man attempted to blow up a plane headed from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day in 2009.
Travelers will be able to decide if they want to pass through traditional metal detectors and then be patted down or go through the body scanner. The report said civil liberties advocates have criticized the scanners for showing everything under a person's clothes, but the Transportation Security Administration said the images are deleted from the system after they are reviewed. The officers viewing the images never see the travelers.
The 21 airports with the body scanners have had negligible effects on waiting times, the Star reported.

If it will save time, sure. Don't think anyone will have a good time viewing me.
Personally, if it is going to provide for the safety of all, I'm for. Other countries have for years do so. The United States was so agorant to think no one dare to attack this soil, well it has happened and I can see it happening again. Times are changing and we as Americans should not take anything for granted. We should head all warning.
