Hickman girls soccer kicks off fundraising effort

COLUMBIA — The Hickman High School girls soccer team is raising money by selling programs for the Show-Me Showdown basketball tournament at the Mizzou Arena. The fundraiser began yesterday and will end with the conclusion of the Class 1 state championship game Saturday night.

For every $4 program that is sold, 30 cents will benefit the Hickman soccer squad. The money will go to buy new balls, uniforms and equipment.

“There’s really no goal in mind, just to smile, be polite and make sure everyone has fun while in Columbia,” said fundraiser coordinator Kevin Pace. The money raised will be collected at the end of the tournament for the Missouri State High School Activities Association to distribute to the various organizations participating in the fundraiser.

Several mothers of the soccer players are volunteering two-hour shifts Thursday through Saturday. The soccer team will help the fundraising effort Saturday after their season-opening game against Timberland High School.
