COLUMBIA — An event featuring decorated rain barrels took place Friday at Orr Street Studios. The barrels were placed at various businesses in downtown Columbia in an effort to encourage rain barrel usage. According to the network, the barrels are designed to catch rainfall from gutters that can be used for watering plants or washing cars. Catching this water helps reduce the negative effects of excess rainwater run off.
