Missouri Lt. Gov. Kinder joins health care lawsuit

JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder is joining officials from other states in a lawsuit challenging the new federal health care law.
The Republican lieutenant governor said Tuesday that he is suing in his role as a constitutional officer of Missouri and as the state's official senior advocate.

A lawsuit by attorneys general in 13 states was filed shortly after President Barack Obama signed the health care law Tuesday. The lawsuit contends the federal government has no constitutional power to mandate that people have health insurance.
Missouri's attorney general has not sued. A spokeswoman for Democratic Attorney General Chris Koster says he is "watching the situation develop."
Legal experts say the lawsuit may have little chance of success, because federal laws generally trump those in states.

Wow...I voted for Bush and McCain, but I am done with the Republicans. They are money people and in a class system. They started the economy mess and now just continuing to try to help their insurance buddies and wall street. I am done!!
Why would he file a lawsuit using state money that we don't have to overturn a federal law? I believe he should make sure the people of MO. want this health care which I believe they will when they see the benefits from it. This is just another political move. And yes I am a registered Repulican who agrees with the health care package.I have seen first hand what a chronic illness can do.
