COLUMBIA — Four men were arrested Wednesday in connection with a March 5 burglary at Hardt’s Used Furniture at 2000 Business Loop 70 E.
Police said the men were also involved in two armed robberies: one March 8 at Range Line Liquor at 905 Safari Drive and the other March 9 at Dreams Smoke Shop at 101 E. Walnut.
Columbia police connected the robberies and burglary while viewing surveillance footage of the two robberies, Public Information Officer Jessie Haden said. Detectives determined the handgun used in the robberies had been stolen from the furniture store.
Haden said the gun, which police saw being carried by the suspects on surveillance footage, had not yet been located.
Jewelry, money, iPods and antique pellet guns were taken, Haden said in an e-mail. Police think the items were later pawned. Police are now pursuing leads to identify who pawned the stolen items and who bought them, Haden said.
The men arrested are:
- Diego Camargo, 18, of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree robbery and second-degree burglary. Bail for the burglary charge is set at $4,500.
- Zachary Davis, 23, of Brunswick was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree robbery and a warrant for a parole violation.
- John Gunn, 51, of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree robbery and hindering prosecution.
- A 17-year-old male of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery and second-degree burglary. Bail for the robbery arrests had not yet been set, and bail for the burglary charge is set at $4,500.
