COLUMBIA — Officials at the Central Missouri Humane Society suspect that a burglary there on Tuesday was an inside job.
The humane society was entered using a key, and the alarm was disarmed using a key code, Director Allen Allert said.
“We have individual codes for the alarm system," he said. "We know who the suspect is. We reported it as soon as we noticed it.”
Allert said he gave the police the name of the person they believe entered the building the night of the burglary and what contact information the humane society had.
The investigation was assigned to the Columbia Police Department's major crimes unit and Detective Jeff Westbrook of the Columbia Police Department.
More than $800 was missing after the burglary.

An "inside job?" Problems apparently continue to brew beneath the surface there. It's too bad our local officials are content to allow this organization to keep limping along in limbo.
