PrintCOLUMBIA — The Columbia City Council will revisit on May 3 the request to rezone property on the south side of the Grindstone Parkway and Grindstone Plaza Drive. The council voted to table the proposed ordinance at the request of the applicant, Red Oak Investment Company.
The Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission voted 7-2 to not recommend company's application to rezone 25.29 acres for commercial use in March. The land is currently zoned as agricultural.
According to a previous Missourian report, the commission was comfortable with the request to rezone the property to planned commercial, but it did not support adding a proposed traffic signal at Grindstone Parkway and Grindstone Plaza Drive.
David Brodsky, a member of the commission, said he supported the request to table the issue. Brodsky said at the council meeting he was not speaking for the commission, but just as a citizen. He added that he believed the issue would need to be tabled for more than a month.
There was no other public comment or council discussion. The vote to table was unanimous, 7-0.
