First baseman extends hitting streak, but Missouri baseball team loses to Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. — The Tigers fought hard, but couldn’t find a way to string the big inning together in a 6-4 loss to Oklahoma on Friday in Norman, Okla.

Missouri, 17-12 so far this year, took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after freshman Dane Opel delivered a sacrifice fly. The Sooners battled back with a run of their own in the bottom half of the frame and didn’t trail for the rest of the game.

In the top of the seventh, Missouri tied the game at three, but Oklahoma again quickly responded with three more runs.

The Tigers had four players with multi-hit days, including first baseman Aaron Senne, who had three hits for the fourth straight game. Senne extended his career-high hitting streak to 14 games.

Missouri attempted a comeback in the ninth inning, but the rally was killed when Brett Nicholas hit into a double play.

Missouri and Oklahoma play again at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Norman.
