On Monday night, billionaire Stan Kroenke made the decision to try to purchase the 60 percent share of the St. Louis Rams that is still up for grabs.
Kroenke, a Columbia native, already owns both the Denver Nuggets of the NBA and the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL. The remaining share he is seeking is currently owned by Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez, the children of Georgia Frontiere, who brought the Rams from Los Angeles to St. Louis in 1995. Frontiere died in January 2008.
Kroenke, 62, already owns 40 percent of the team, so successfully obtaining the remaining share will place him as sole owner of the Rams.
According to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch story, NFL cross-ownership rules currently prevent owners from having a majority share of an NFL team in one city if they own a majority of another major-league team in another market.
Greg Aiello, the NFL's senior vice president of public relations, said Monday evening that Kroenke's purchase attempt would be reviewed by the league office as well as the league's finance committee once it receives documentation of Kroenke's bid, the story stated.
Kroenke’s decision came as a surprise to many. After Rosenbloom and Rodriguez came to an agreement with Illinois businessman Shahid Khan to buy the team, Kroenke had 60 days to decide whether to keep his 40 percent share, sell it, or exercise his right to buy the team outright, according to an AP story.
With many issues surrounding the Rams, including a 6-42 record over the past three seasons, Kroenke’s decision potentially hushes any rumors of the team’s leaving St. Louis.
What do you think of Stan Kroenke’s decision to purchase the St. Louis Rams franchise? Would it be a good move for the team?

as far as i'm concerned, it doesnt matter who owns the rams, they still suck and changing owners wont change that fact.
You're probably right, Phillip, but the Rams didn't "suck" when Kurt Warner was their quarterback.
Let's have three cheers for University of Northern Iowa, or, as students at University of Iowa and Iowa State University call it, the "University of No Importance." The smallest of Iowa's three regents' universities plays football under a dome, the UNIdome.
youre right ellis eventho i never did like kurt in st.louis or pheonix.i say let who ever wants to own the rams own them, who knows, maybe they will make some good decisions and bring some good coaches and players in that can lead them to another super bowl.look at the saints, who would have guessed they would have won the big trophy?

You might like Kurt Warner better if you knew how much time and money (their own) Kurt and his wife have spent helping people. Kurt and his wife are just plain folks, both of whom have known hard times.
As for Stan Kroenke, if your wife were a Wal-Mart heiress worth about $3 billion (with a "b") you could pretty well buy anything you cared to buy. If I had anywhere near that sort of money I'd buy my alma mater from the State of Missouri and privatize it. :)
