MU students arrested in cotton ball incident charged with littering

COLUMBIA — Two MU students have been charged with littering for the Feb. 26 cotton ball incident at the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center.
Boone County Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Haigh said both Zachary Tucker, 21, and Sean Fitzgerald, 19, face Class A misdemeanor charges.

The two spread cotton balls in front of the center, sparking outrage from students and the community.
A sentencing date has been set for April 29.
Christopher Slusher of Columbia, the attorney representing Tucker, said he anticipates Tucker will plead guilty.
Haigh said he expected both would plead guilty. Fitzgerald's attorney was not available for comment.
