PrintAfter a couple days of uncertainty, men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson has decided to stay at MU.
The University of Oregon expressed interest in Anderson as its next head coach. According to a previous Missourian story, Anderson met with former Oregon athletics director Pat Kilkenny while in El Paso, Texas, for a charity golf tournament hosted by Anderson's mentor, former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson. A report by the Oregonian said that Anderson had made phone calls to the parents of his players Saturday to confirm that he will be staying at Missouri.

It has been reported that Oregon would offer Anderson $3 million a year if he accepted the job.
Anderson’s decision marks the second time in one year the MU coach turned down more money in order to stay in Columbia. After Missouri’s Elite Eight run last season, the University of Georgia offered Anderson a contract worth $2 million a year.
Anderson signed a seven-year contract with MU last year worth $10.85 million.
He was instrumental in MU’s stellar recruiting class, which is ranked among the best in the nation. The recruiting haul also includes the nation's top-ranked junior college player, 6-foot-8 forward Ricardo Ratliffe from Central Florida Community College, according to an Associated Press story.
“A lot of people fail to understand Mike Anderson, who he is,” Anderson said in the AP story. “My players are my family.”
