COLUMBIA — Two men were arrested in connection with a burglary that took place Wednesday evening in the 1600 block of Deborah Court in Columbia, according to a release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene around 6:20 p.m. After they arrived, they believed the possible suspects were driving a vehicle in the area. They found two men in a vehicle nearby in the 1700 block of Bluebird Lane, according to a release.
One of the suspects, John D. Wise, 19, of Buffalo, Mo., was immediately arrested, according to the release. Detective Tom O'Sullivan said the other man, identified as Ryan A. Coffee, 19, of Columbia, fled the scene but was found in a nearby wooded area and arrested.
The items were taken from the residence on Deborah Court included a laptop, prescription medication, jewelry, an MP3 player, several collector’s coins, digital cameras and alcohol, O'Sullivan said. These items were recovered during the investigation on Bluebird Lane.
Coffee was arrested on suspicion of:
- Second-degree burglary
- Felony stealing
- Felony possession of a controlled substance
- Felony property damage
- Misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia
- Resisting a lawful detention
Wise was arrested on suspicion of:
- Second-degree burglary
- Felony stealing
- Felony possession of a controlled substance
- Felony property damage
- Misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia
The two suspects were in custody. Coffee’s bond is set at $19,500 and Wise’s at $19,000.
