COLUMBIA — A man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of driving under the influence after a motor vehicle accident.
Police arrested Randy Jones, 35, of Columbia, at the scene of an accident near Highway 63 and Clark Lane around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Jessie Haden, the public information officer for the Columbia Police Department, in an e-mail. The details of the accident and injuries sustained were not available, said Detective Jeff Westbrook of the police department.
Jones was visibly intoxicated, had troubling standing, slurred his speech and performed poorly on the field sobriety tests, Westbrook said.
A drug recognition expert was called to conduct additional tests, Haden said.
Jones was arrested on suspicion for driving under the influence, failure to display valid plates and failure to provide proof of insurance.
Jones posted bond Wednesday, said Capt. Keith Hoskins of the police department.
