COLUMBIA – A Columbia man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of domestic assault.
Police arrested Adrian Jackson, 29, on Tuesday after being contacted by a 20-year-old female whom he has a child with and lived with, Detective Jeff Westbrook of the Columbia Police Department said.
Officers had originally contacted the woman on April 23, after receiving information that she was in the hospital and had been assaulted. At first, the woman declined to implicate Jackson in the assault at her residence on April 19, but later said he had, Haden said.
She said Jackson punched, kicked and stomped her, causing her to lose consciousness. On April 21, she said he assaulted her again. The woman went to the hospital for external and internal injuries on April 22, Haden said.
Jackson was located on Tuesday after he was stopped in his car. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree domestic assault, Haden said.
The woman is still in the hospital, Westbrook said.
Jackson is currently in custody with bond posted at $90,000, Capt. Keith Hoskins of the Boone County Sherriff's Department said.
