Children's liquid medicines recalled

COLUMBIA — Parents might need to do some spring cleaning in their medicine cabinets after a mass recall of children's and infants' liquid medicine.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare voluntarily recalled all children and infant liquid medicines that have not yet expired because some of the products might not meet required quality standards, according to its website.

The recall comes after concerns that some products might contain too much of some active ingredients, inactive ingredients that have not met internal testing requirements and tiny particles.

The news release on the McNeil site said consumers haven't seen any problems with the medicines and the recall is a precautionary measure.

Parents should throw away and not give these products to their children:

• Tylenol Infants' Drops
• Children's Tylenol Suspensions
• Children's Tylenol Plus Suspensions
• Motrin Infants' Drops
• Children's Motrin Suspensions
• Children's Motrin Cold Suspensions
• Children's Zyrtec liquids in bottles
• Children's Benadryl allergy liquids in bottles

The plant where these products were made will not continue production until the problems have been fixed. The release did not say what the problems are.
