Missouri infielder breaks record for hits in baseball team's loss

Aaron Senne made history in the second inning of the Missouri baseball team's game against Texas Tech on Sunday in Lubbock, Texas.

It would not be a day for celebration, however, as the Tigers dropped the series finale 16-15.

In the second inning, Senne recorded his second base hit of the game. It was Senne's 275th career hit, making Senne the all-time hits leader at Missouri. Senne surpassed Jayce Tingler, who played with the Tigers from 2000-2003.

Senne and the Tigers offense clicked all day, but the pitching staff struggled. Every time the Tigers got a run, the Red Raiders responded.

Missouri tied the game at 15 in the top of the ninth, but Texas Tech pinch hitter Stephen Hagen hit a RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Missouri third baseman Brett Nicholas extended his hitting streak to 18 games and outfielder Ryan Gebhart extended his to eight.

Missouri (23-19, 7-10) plays Missouri State at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Taylor Stadium. The Tigers lost to the Bears 5-4 on April 14 in Springfield.
