MU will offer a car-sharing program in the fall.
Four vehicles — two hybrids and two sedans — will be available for rental to students, faculty and staff as part of Enterprise Rent-a-Car’s WeCar program.
Membership for the program is $35 per year. Rental rates start at $8 per hour for sedans and $9 per hour for hybrids. Students who are 18-20 years old can participate in the program but must have their own insurance.
The program is designed for members to use the vehicles to go grocery shopping, run errands or other quick trips.
It will also contribute to MU’s sustainability initiative. A shared vehicle keeps 15-20 cars off the road, according to an MU news release.
