COLUMBIA — A 19-year-old man was shot multiple times on the south side of Columbia Friday afternoon, according to two news releases from the Columbia Police Department. The man is in stable condition after undergoing surgery at University Hospital.
The victim, whose name the department has yet to release, was shot twice in the chest and torso area and once in the thigh during a possible "home invasion-style robbery," a release said.
Police arrived at 2:06 p.m. at apartment number 11 of the Fireside Apartment Complex at 101 E. Green Meadows Road, and the victim was immediately transported to University Hospital, a news release said. He was in critical condition before undergoing surgery.
Another adult male was in the apartment and was not injured in the shooting. A witness at the scene reported seeing as many as four suspects enter the apartment, the release said. The suspects then drove away in a silver Dodge Magnum with tinted windows. Police are at the scene investigating and will release more information later.
