A move to the Big Ten could result in more money and exposure because of the conference's affiliations with the Big Ten Network and ESPN. The Big 12 has one of the least lucrative television contracts in the BCS. According to a previous Missourian article, the move could result in "a seven-figure per year revenue increase."

As far as competition goes, the Big Ten and Big 12 have split the four BCS bowl games in which they faced each other. Mizzou has played the Big Ten's University of Illinois 23 times since 1896 in the State Farm Arch Rivalry game. The Tigers have won 16 of the 23 times.
