COLUMBIA — The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has closed three beaches after finding high levels of E. coli, the department said in a release.
The beach at Mark Twain State Park, the day-use beach at Truman State Park and Public Beach 1 at Lake of the Ozarks State Park will be closed until testing shows E. coli levels have dropped, the department said.
Most E. coli is harmless, but some strains can cause illness. The department said samples are taken weekly.
Alternative public beaches remain open, the department said. Check the Missouri State Parks website for the latest information on beach closings.
