PrintCOLUMBIA — Mitchell Kemp's family cried while videos of Tausha Fields describing Kemp's murder to investigators played during the fifth day of Fields' murder trial.
Fields is accused of first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges stemming from the Aug. 24, 2004, death of Kemp, her former husband.

Gregory Morton, accused of being the shooter in the crime, pled guilty in June 2009 to second-degree murder. Charges against Morton were downgraded from first-degree murder in exchange for his testimony against Fields.
The prosecution showed two videos from 2008 interviews in Alabama between Fields and detectives during the Friday morning portion of the trial. In both, Fields described the murder, claiming she had no idea that Morton was planning to kill Kemp and that she wasn't even home during the murder.
Throughout the videos, Fields talked about Lexie, her daughter with Kemp.
"I need you to tell me I'm going to go home to my daughter tonight," Fields said to Boone County* detective David Wilson while he was questioning her.
Prior to the killing, Fields told detectives that Morton and Kemp argued on the phone. In the videotaped interviews, Fields told detectives that she left the residence she was sharing with Morton to pick up Lexie from school and wasn't home when the shooting occurred. She said she found out about the shooting much later that night when Morton woke her up to tell her what happened.
During the beginning of the trial, the defense admitted that Fields lied to investigators in the 2008 interviews.
Kemp's family became visibly upset during parts of the videotaped interviews. Family members cried and turned away from the TVs when Fields told investigators that Kemp never cared about Lexie.
The judge called a recess for lunch at about 12:30. The prosecution's showing of videotaped interviews are expected to begin again at 1:30.
