ST. LOUIS— Several areas of northern and central Missouri are still under flood warnings as rivers remain high and ground remains saturated.
The Missouri River was falling Monday from peak levels of last week, but moderate flooding continued in the northwest corner of the state.
The Mississippi River was a few feet above technical flood stage along the eastern edge of Missouri. Hannibal has already made plans to move its popular Fourth of July week festival called National Tom Sawyer Days from a riverside park to Main Street because of flooding. The river was about 5 feet above flood stage in Hannibal and St. Louis.
The Mississippi was 6.5 feet above flood stage in Cape Girardeau and expected to rise another half-foot by Tuesday. No major problems were expected.
