COLUMBIA — The Columbia School Board will meet at noon Tuesday to review an agreement that would begin the permitting process for the city's next public high school.
The St. Charles Road Development Agreement addresses easements and was written to "work out who's responsible for which part of the road," district spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said.
"Because we're dealing with private property, we have to come to an agreement with the St. Charles Development Corp.," Baumstark said. The corporation is a group of owners who sold the property in northeast Columbia to the school district for the high school and who still own much property directly to the west.
The agreement stemmed from negotiations among the district, Boone County and the development corporation.
The agreement was not ready to review when the board met for its regular work session earlier this month, so the Tuesday meeting is being held specifically to address the issue. It will be at the district's administration building, 1818 W. Worley St.
Groundbreaking on the school is set for 4 p.m. July 15.
