On June 18, the Daniel Boone Regional Library System introduced its new Bookmobile Jr., which replaces the previous 24-year-old youth bookmobile.

The Bookmobile Jr. travels to Douglass Park every Friday as a part of Daniel Boone Regional Library's outreach program.

Claire Whitney, 12, picks out a book during her first visit to the bookmobile Friday at Douglass Park. She and her younger brother, Will Whitney, came out because they were curious about the bookmobile while spending time with their friend. Whitney checked out books from the young adult section that day. Her mother, Greta Cole, said Whitney is an avid reader who usually enjoys going to the public library.

VIDEO: The Daniel Boone Regional Library has replaced its 24-year-old bookmobile with the new Bookmobile Jr. This "miniature library" is designed to introduce youth in low-income neighborhoods to the public library and encourage reading. Children and parents can come to Douglass Park to read and check out books from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. almost every Friday during the summer.
