COLUMBIA — A dump truck rear-ended a Dodge Neon at the intersection of Interstate 70 and Stadium Boulevard on Thursday afternoon.
The driver of the Dodge Neon, Sandra Lovelace, along with passengers Ella Ellam, Danesha Salisbury and Fatina Holleman were injured in the accident. They were taken to University Hospital by ambulance. All were discharged from the hospital later in the afternoon.
"They (the four women) were complaining of neck and back injuries," Officer Jason McClintic of the Columbia Police Department said.
The driver of the dump truck, Charles Dodson, was not injured.
Dodson was driving a route for Boone Construction when the accident occurred. According to Dodson, he was driving behind Lovelace when she suddenly braked in the intersection, and he was unable to stop.
Dodson received a citation for colliding with another vehicle.
