PrintCOLUMBIA — Courtney May-Rainey tried to run, but the law caught up with him Tuesday.
May-Rainey, 24, pleaded guilty to five felony charges, including one count of resisting arrest by fleeing and four for operating a motor vehicle on a highway while his driver's license was revoked.
Judge Kevin Crane of the 13th Judicial Circuit Court sentenced May-Rainey to three years for each charge. The sentences are to be served concurrently, and May-Rainey will be credited with time served in the Boone County Jail.
May-Rainey twice tried to flee from police officers before he was arrested Dec. 23, as previously reported in the Missourian.
May-Rainey escaped on foot when officer Tim Giger pulled him over Nov. 22. He again tried to run when officers found him near the Walmart on Grindstone Parkway. He was arrested after a brief foot chase into the Walmart.
These types of charges are not new to May-Rainey. According to Missouri Case.net, since 2003 he has pleaded guilty to five counts of resisting arrest and six counts of operating a motor vehicle on a highway while his driver's license was revoked.
