COLUMBIA — More rain is expected Thursday afternoon and evening.
Scattered storms Thursday are expected to produce up to 0.5 inches of rainfall, adding to flooding in Columbia, National Weather Service meteorologist Julie Phillipson said.
“Depending on how much precipitation you get today, it could prolong the flooding,” Phillipson said. “The ground is already oversaturated.”
Within the last 24 hours, Columbia received 3.33 inches of rainfall, which caused several Columbia roads to have flash floods. Boone County is currently under a flood warning.
Phillipson advises caution in approaching flooded roads and recommends not trying to cross.
"It does not take much water to lift a vehicle," Phillipson said.
The weekend forecast is expected to be dry, but thunderstorms are possible on Monday.
