JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri is accepting applications for its insurance pool for uninsured people with pre-existing medical conditions.
The Missouri Health Insurance Pool is part of the federal health care overhaul. It covers Missourians with pre-existing conditions who have not been insured for at least six months.
The high-risk pool will be available until 2014 when federal law requires insurance companies to cover all applicants.
Missouri is getting $81 million from the federal government to subsidize the insurance pool.
