Cauthorn, a Republican, was first elected to the Senate in a special election in 2001 after Joe Maxwell abandoned the position to become lieutenant governor.

Why he’s running for office: “I think the House might need a little maturity over there," Cauthorn said. "I think I offer some experience and expertise that term limits have taken away from the legislative process. I think I can be a real asset to Boone and Audrain County.”
