Man with five previous DWI convictions arrested on suspicion of DWI

COLUMBIA — A man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release. A traffic stop in the 5000 block of Clark Lane ended in a foot chase and the arrest of Jason M. Puckett.

Puckett, 36, was taken into custody after a short foot chase with deputies. He was charged with a felony DWI chronic offender, felony driving under revocation, third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and felony resisting arrest.

Puckett has five prior DWI convictions and six prior convictions for driving on a revoked license.

As of 3 p.m. Monday, Puckett remained in Boone County Jail with bond set at $50,000, said Sgt. Mike Krohn of the Sheriff's Department.
