He opposed two of the Obama administration’s biggest pieces of legislation, the 2009 $787 billion stimulus package, and the 2010 Democrat-led health care reform bill.

Luetkemeyer supports more limited health care reform, such as easier and enhanced access to insurance.
Luetkemeyer is a member of the House Small Business Committee, House Agriculture Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
In addition to opposing deficit spending, Luetkemeyer is against same-sex marriage, abortion rights, and amnesty for illegal immigrants.
Luetkemeyer said he doesn't believe in global warming and called climate research "international junk science" in a 2009 news release.
Missouri's 9th Congressional District has been in Republican hands since 1997. Luetkemeyer narrowly beat Democratic challenger Judy Baker in a 2008 race that saw nearly $4.5 million spent between the two candidates.
