Schweich said he believes that it's very important that the state auditor have experience in law enforcement — experience that he can bring to the table.
"A lot of them over the years have had experience in law enforcement," he said.
If elected, he says his No. 1 priority is helping departments manage the federal stimulus money.
Ridding the government of fraud is next on his list.
"I want to clean out any financial corruption in Jefferson City," Schweich said.
