PHOTO GALLERY: Friends, families compete in Show-Me State Games miniature golf

Samantha Coronado and Jessie Pfautz, both of Kansas City, play the Perche Creek miniature golf course as part of the 2010 Show-Me State Games on Saturday. They came to Columbia so Pfautz could compete in the Show-Me State Games' Track competition, but because Coronado was not participating, they decided to go out and play an event together. "I didn't want her to be bored," Pfautz said, and Coronado completed: "— so I picked mini golf."

The Perche Creek Golf Club hosted the Show-Me State Games' miniature golf event on Sunday. The competition drew a few groups of friends and even a family of three.

Chris Heston said the family was out for an "an impromptu family day" and did not plan to play in the games, but they entered after a suggestion from a fellow miniature golfer.

Pfautz, who is from Kansas City and participated in the track and field events this weekend, was not too concerned about her misfortunes in golf. "I already got one medal, so I'm not going to be disappointed about this," she said.

Jon Harrison finds himself unsatisfied after missing a putt, but he and friend John Fitzgibbons take their misfortunes in good stride during the 2010 Show-Me State Games miniature golf event Sunday at the Perche Creek Golf Club. Fitzgibbons was last year's gold medalist in the event, "but I don't think there's a medal in my future," he said.
