PrintCOLUMBIA — IBM has posted jobs on its website for the new technology service delivery center opening in Columbia this fall.
According to a post on IBM's website, the new center will create up to 800 jobs and will work with “institutions of higher learning in the Columbia region for recruitment and training of potential employees as well as hiring experienced professionals.”
Job postings include information on job requirements, responsibilities and submission of applications. All the jobs listed thus far indicate a fall 2010 start time. No salary information is provided.
Jobs available include, but are not limited to:
- Unix support specialist.
- Technical support specialist.
- Mainframe storage support.
- BlackBerry technician support specialist.
- Software distribution specialist.
A complete listing of all 27 jobs can be found on IBM's website. IBM lists 12 pairs of similar jobs with "jazz" and "blues" designations. "Jazz"-level jobs generally require more experience.
"The new center is part of an extensive network of IBM service delivery centers in more than 20 countries, with multiple sites in many of those countries, that provide information technology (IT) services and business process outsourcing capabilities to IBM clients around the world and will provide maintenance and monitoring of computer hardware and systems to IBM's business clients in the United States," the company's website said.
The IBM building will be an existing structure at 2810 LeMone Industrial Blvd. that is being renovated. It should be operational by November, and the company expects to create 800 jobs by 2012, as reported in a previous Missourian article.

I guess as IBM rolls out their jobs at least the MU and State workforce will have another option. Their current employers don't seem to like them very much
