Police arrest one man, have two more suspects in northeastern Columbia robbery

COLUMBIA — Police have arrested a man and identified a second suspect in connection with a Sunday night robbery on Mexico Gravel Road, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

According to the release, two men entered the victim's home in the 2800 block of Mexico Gravel Road at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Each was armed with a shotgun.

They stole a laptop computer, a PlayStation 2 game system and cash from a 29-year-old male, the release said.

Police and investigators have recovered the laptop computer and the two shotguns.

Randall E. King, 23, was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

The second suspect, Harlequin Martel Harris, 23, is wanted on suspicion of first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

Bond is yet to be set for each of King's charges.

The victim and a friend attempted to chase down the perpetrators but were unable to keep up.

When they were unable to catch up, they asked a resident to call police. They turned back to see whether the suspects had discarded any of the stolen property.

Police had also been dispatched to the 4100 block of Mexico Gravel Road at approximately 5:30 p.m. after a neighbor saw four men — one with a gun — running through backyards.

Other officers in the area found King, hidden in a garage, on the 2800 block of Fairhaven Drive. He was detained and taken to the police department.

A detective interviewed King, who implicated himself and two others, according to the release.
