Traffic moves to two new lanes of Scott Boulevard

COLUMBIA — The west side of Scott Boulevard will be closed for construction beginning Friday morning. Traffic will be moved to the two new lanes of the road, according to a news release from the Columbia Public Works Department.

This phase of the project will close the following intersections:

  • Gillespie Bridge Road
  • Mesa Drive
  • Rainbow Trout
  • Sussex Drive

Sussex Drive and Rainbow Trout Drive are expected to reopen in 6 to 8 weeks, weather permitting.

North Pinebrook and Brookview Court are supposed to alternate closings so if one of is closed, the other should be available for use.

The entire Scott Boulevard project is set to be completed in the summer of 2011, the news release said.

Intersections that will remain open as alternate routes include:

  • Chapel Hill Road
  • Georgetown Drive
  • Millbrook Drive
  • Smith Drive
  • Esther Lee Court
