Campus police searching for suspect in assault

At approximately 2:20 a.m. Saturday officers from the MU Police Department responded to the report of an assault that occurred near University Avenue and Hitt Street. The victim described the suspect as a male in his early twenties, heavy set, wearing a yellow shirt and khaki shorts, according to the department's website. This is one of the images of a person who matches the general description of the perpetrator that investigators were able to pull from cameras in the area. COLUMBIA — Police are looking for a suspect after a woman was assaulted early Saturday morning near University Avenue and Hitt Street, according to a news release from the MU Police Department.

The assault occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m Saturday. The victim was treated at the scene and released.
