COLUMBIA – Missouri infielder Jenna Marston is one of 32 finalists for the USA Baseball Women’s National Team.
Marston, a All-Big 12 first team selection last season as a freshman on the Missouri softball team, will compete to be one of the 18 players on the baseball team this week at team trials at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
The roster for the trials was selected at six regional tryouts held across the country. The team will be announced after the trials end on Thursday.
Once selected, the team will compete in the 2010 IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup from Aug. 12 to 22 in Venezuela. Team USA won the event in 2004 and 2006 and finished third in 2008.
Marston hit .366 with five home runs and 52 runs batted in for Missouri in her first collegiate season of softball. The St. Louis native played baseball throughout high school, and is primarily a pitcher and outfielder.
