COLUMBIA — Missouri's seventh annual Back to School Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ends midnight Sunday.
Some purchases, including clothing, school supplies, computers and computer accessories will be exempt from the state sales tax. A full description of qualifying purchases and price limits is available from the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The department does not require cities or counties to eliminate their local taxes. For the seventh consecutive year, Boone County and Columbia chose not to participate in the tax holiday, so Columbia shoppers will still have to pay local and Transportation Development District taxes on all purchases.
