PrintCOLUMBIA – Both the Boone County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were engaged in a vehicle pursuit at about 6:43 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release.
A Boone County Sheriff's deputy observed a maroon Ford Explorer passing vehicles in a yellow painted section of the divided roadway while traveling southbound on Highway 763, according to the release. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by Billy J. Bergsieker of Sturgeon, Mo., but Bergsieker fled. The deputy pursued the vehicle until he lost sight of it on city streets.
A State Highway Patrol trooper located the vehicle, and after a second short chase was able to stop the vehicle with assistance from Boone County deputies.
Bergsieker, 34, was charged with felony driving while revoked, felony resisting arrest by fleeing and careless and imprudent driving, according to the release. Bond was set at $9,500.
