PrintCOLUMBIA — Three motorcyclists might have to find another way home from the National Bikers Roundup this weekend after their rides disappeared from hotel parking lots.
The Columbia Police Department has taken three reports of stolen motorcycles in the past three days:
- A dark green 1981 Honda Gold Wing, Georgia license plate CY46NH, was reported missing Thursday from the La Quinta Inn at 2500 I-70 Drive Southwest;
- An orange and black 2008 Suzuki GSX 1300 with the Missouri license plate BD8WP — emblazoned with a chrome skull on its left side and a multicolored hand grenade on the other — was reported missing Saturday morning from the Ramada Inn at 901 Conley Road;
- A white and gray 2009 Suzuki GSX, also reported missing from the Ramada Inn on Saturday morning.
Investigators said a white minivan was seen in the area of the Ramada Inn at the time of the thefts and could be involved with the incident.
Columbia police are continually patrolling all motel and hotel lots for the duration of the roundup, the department said in a release. They encouraged motorcycle drivers to put a disc or cable lock on their bikes to discourage drive-offs and to chain their vehicles to a "fixed object" or other motorcycles overnight.
Police said to call 442-6131 if anyone sees a suspicious vehicle in an area of unattended bikes and to call 911 if he or she sees a theft in progress.

Only a extreme lower form of life would steal somebody's ride. I hope the lower forms of life are caught soon and the bikes returned to their owners.
Just sickening. It is not what you ride but that you ride that counts.
