ST. LOUIS — Mourners in Missouri have held vigils for a 15-year-old school bus passenger and the teen driver of a pickup truck who were killed in a horrific interstate crash.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that at the service Friday evening for Jessica Brinker of St. James, the bus passenger, more people crowded into the church than its pews could hold.
- Friends and family of Daniel Schatz, 19, fill the football stadium at Sullivan High School in Sullivan on Friday to honor his life and passing. Schatz was killed during Thursday's school bus accident on Interstate 44. Daniel was the driver of the pickup that was crushed between the truck and one of two school buses involved in the accident.
The newspaper says that at the vigil for the pickup driver, 19-year-old Daniel Schatz of Sullivan, luminaries were lit in the shape of his high school and college uniform numbers.
The crash happened Thursday about 40 miles from St. Louis. A semi cab slowed for road construction and was struck by the pickup. Two buses carrying high school band students to Six Flags St. Louis from central Missouri then slammed into that wreck.
