The Daniel Boone Little League American All-Stars defeated Nebraska’s Kearny Little League 12-2 on Tuesday at the Midwest Regional Tournament in Indianapolis, finishing pool play with a record of 2-2.
The bats came alive for Daniel Boone Little League for the first time since their sixth inning comeback win in the first game of the tournament. The team blasted five home runs. Two came in the first inning by Bryan Bolton and Curtis Holliday. Adam Knowles and Cole Evans each went deep in the third. Evans added his second home run of the game in the fifth.
"We hit up and down the lineup and really played a complete game," head coach Greg Kespohl said by phone. "Alex Jones pitched very well and did a good job of keeping the ball down."
Alex Jones pitched the entire game, which ended after five innings when Daniel Boone Little League took a 10-run lead.
Daniel Boone Little League’s 2-2 record during pool play was good enough to earn the fourth seed in the semifinals. The team will play top-seeded Minnesota at 3 p.m. Thursday.
