The Daniel Boone Little League American All-Stars ended their season Thursday with a loss in the semifinals of the Midwest Regional Tournament in Indianapolis. They were defeated 15-2 by Minnesota.
The game was close for the first five innings. Minnesota led 5-2 entering the sixth before breaking the game open with 10 runs in the top of the inning. Daniel Boone Little League scored both of their runs in the third on a Parker Wilkinson home run and an RBI double by Cole Evans.
“We were right there through five,” head coach Greg Kespohl said by phone. “They’re (Minnesota) an outstanding hitting team. Our pitchers did a great job for five innings, but it’s hard to keep a team that good down for the entire game.”
Kespohl said he was proud of how his team battled throughout the game and the tournament.
“The effort was there,” Kespohl said. “We came up a little short, but we had a good run.”
